Science-Policy Meetings seek to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences between scientists and decision-makers, and to learn about their perspectives on the environmental challenges of the Andean region.An open and collaborative space, promoting the use of scientific evidence to inform decision-making and guide strategies for conservation, sustainable management and adaptation to climate change in the Andes.

Science-Policy Meetings are organized by the Technical Secretariat of the Andean Mountain Initiative, exercised by CONDESAN, with the support of the Adaptation at High Altitudes program

Integrating Biodiversity and Climate Change: Challenges and opportunities for adaptation and international cooperation

Understanding the Biodiversity – Climate Change interaction is key to addressing adaptation challenges and taking advantage of negotiation opportunities at the Conference of the Parties (COP).

Climate change is reconfiguring mountain ecosystems globally, and the Andes are no exception. In this meeting we will analyze how this synergy impacts biodiversity, what adaptation mechanisms have been implemented, and how to strengthen our participation in international scenarios.

 

Objectives of the meeting:

  • To deepen the relationship between Biodiversity and Climate Change in mountain regions.
  • To learn about adaptation mechanisms and experiences implemented in the Andes.
  • Update information on progress, gaps and opportunities in the COPs to enhance the Biodiversity – Climate Change synergy.
